When First Bank Nigeria approached us last year about a CSR partnership focused on access to justice, we knew immediately what it could mean: 200 additional legal aid cases. 200 more families with a fighting chance.

The partnership, formalized in January 2023, provides annual funding for our legal aid desk in Lagos — covering staff salaries, court filing fees, transportation, and the printed resources our pro-bono lawyers need to build their cases.

Mr. Adebayo Okonkwo, Head of Sustainability at First Bank, joined us at Kirikiri for a facility visit in March. “I have read the statistics many times,” he told our team afterward. “But standing in that courtyard, watching a man receive a certificate he earned in prison — that is something no report can convey.”
