The best intervention in the criminal justice system is the one that keeps someone out of it entirely.

Our Youth Diversion Program targets at-risk young people aged 14–25 in communities with high rates of youth incarceration — providing intensive mentorship, education support, and opportunity creation before the justice system becomes involved.

■ After-school tutoring and homework clubs in target communities
■ Mentorship from program graduates and community role models
■ Vocational skills introduction and apprenticeship placement
■ Conflict resolution and life skills workshops in schools
■ Community youth leadership programs
■ Referral support for young people already in contact with police

In 2023, our diversion program worked with 620 young people across Lagos and Ogun states. Fewer than 3% had subsequent involvement with the criminal justice system within 12 months.
